Lawrence Dutton, viola

Paul Watkins, cello

The talents of this legendary quartet will be well served with this program, beginning with the lyrical quartet from Borodin, with its delightful sense of affection throughout.  Walton’s Quartet No. 2, filled with rhythmic energy, is a rare piece that features the rich tones of the viola voice, followed by a later composition from Shostakovich, written to his devoted wife, Irina.
