On the eve of Beethoven’s 250th birth date (December 1770), it is only fitting that this premiere German ensemble should perform one of his late-period quartets, with a joyful ode of thanks written for his improved health.  An entrancing performance of Smetana’s “From my Life” will express the composer’s autobiographical tones of youthful vigor, romantic interlude, and his catastrophic loss of hearing.

The apparent ease with which the players completed each other’s musical sentences was matched by their meticulous attention to blend, dynamics and intonation.
